Want to know more about how music can support your baby’s development?

Here are some of the benefits of music for children aged 0–2 years

Brain Development

Early exposure to live, interactive music stimulates multiple areas of a baby’s developing brain at once, including memory, attention, and emotion regulation. Studies show that musical play in infancy enhances neural connections that support learning, emotional wellbeing, and social communication.

Language Growth

Singing and rhythmic vocal play help babies tune into the patterns of speech. Research shows that babies exposed to interactive singing demonstrate stronger early language and communication skills, as rhythm and melody support the development of listening, turn-taking, and vocalisation.

Social & Emotional Connection

Music strengthens the bond between mother and baby by promoting eye contact, touch, and synchronised movement. These shared experiences support secure attachment, which is linked to emotional resilience, empathy, and long-term wellbeing.

Motor Skills & Coordination

When babies bounce, clap, or play simple instruments, they practice both fine and gross motor skills. Research highlights that rhythmic movement and instrument play enhance coordination, balance, and sensory integration in the first year of life.

Regulation & Calm

Live music helps babies regulate their nervous systems. Slow, gentle songs support soothing and calming, while playful, rhythmic songs promote alertness and engagement. This co-regulation with a parent helps babies learn how to manage stress and emotions as they grow.
