Mental Health in Schools Programs
The Victorian School Mental Health Fund supports primary and secondary schools in Victoria to promote student mental health and wellbeing. Music therapy is available to schools and students via this program.
TLC Music Therapy provides evidence-based music therapy programs designed to enhance social and emotional wellbeing. Our approach uses music to engage students, build resilience, and equip them with tools to manage their mental health now and in the future.
Music therapy is an engaging, motivating and positive process that improves mental health outcomes and experiences for children and young people. Music therapy programs are based on a student’s interests and engagement and focus on their resources, strengths and potential.
Music therapists support students and young people to:
Connect with and regulate their emotions
Build emotional literacy
Build and sustain positive relationships
Develop positive coping resources and strategies
Improve their educational engagement and outcomes
Explore and expand self-concept and identity
